Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing oxygen while inside a pressurized chamber. Increased atmospheric pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into the bloodstream, helping deliver oxygen throughout the body.

At Cell Regen, we use a hard-shell hyperbaric chamber capable of reaching 2.0 ATA. Oxygen is supplied by an external concentrator and delivered through a mask, providing an oxygen-enriched breathing experience during your session.

Located in Hood River, Oregon, Cell Regen proudly serves clients throughout the Columbia River Gorge, including The Dalles, White Salmon, Bingen, Goldendale, Lyle, Carson, Parkdale, and Odell.

HOW HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY WORKS

THE SCIENCE BEHIND HBOT

PREPARING FOR YOUR HBOT SESSION

Before your hyperbaric oxygen therapy session at Cell Regen, our team will explain the process, review relevant safety information, and help you prepare for your time inside the chamber.

You’ll receive instructions about what to wear, which items cannot enter the chamber, and what to expect as the pressure changes.

Our goal is to make your experience comfortable, informative, and personalized to your needs.

Getting started

01

INSIDE THE 2.0 ATA CHAMBER

At Cell Regen, your hyperbaric oxygen therapy session takes place inside a hard-shell chamber capable of reaching 2.0 atmospheres absolute (ATA)—approximately twice the atmospheric pressure at sea level.

As the chamber gradually pressurizes, you may notice a sensation in your ears similar to what you experience during an airplane’s descent. Our team will explain how to equalize the pressure and help you understand what to expect.

During your session, oxygen from an external concentrator is delivered through a mask. The concentrator supplies approximately 98% oxygen, while the chamber maintains a controlled, pressurized environment.

The combination of increased atmospheric pressure and oxygen-enriched breathing can increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in your blood plasma.

THE HYPERBARIC EXPERIENCE

02

RELAX, BREATHE & RECHARGE

During your hyperbaric oxygen therapy session at Cell Regen, you’ll rest comfortably inside our hard-shell chamber while breathing oxygen-enriched air through a mask.

As the chamber reaches its prescribed pressure, the increased atmospheric pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into your bloodstream.

Our team will monitor your session and guide you through the experience. You can relax while the chamber maintains its designated pressure.

At the end of your session, the chamber gradually returns to normal atmospheric pressure before you exit.

YOUR HBOT EXPERIENCE

03

RESTORE • RECOVER • RECHARGE

After your hyperbaric oxygen therapy session at Cell Regen, the chamber will gradually return to normal atmospheric pressure. Once depressurization is complete, our team will assist you as you exit the chamber.

Many clients find the experience relaxing and appreciate having time dedicated to their wellness.

Our team will check in with you after your session, answer questions, and discuss any recommended next steps based on your individual needs.

Located in Hood River, Oregon, Cell Regen welcomes clients from throughout the Columbia River Gorge, including The Dalles, White Salmon, Bingen, Goldendale, Lyle, Carson, Parkdale, and Odell..

THE SCIENCE & BENEFITS OF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY

01 — INCREASED OXYGEN AVAILABILITY

Breathing oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into blood plasma, increasing the oxygen available to tissues.

02 — SUPPORT FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF WOUND HEALING

Medical HBOT is an established treatment for selected difficult-to-heal wounds, including certain diabetic foot ulcers. Appropriate medical evaluation is necessary.

03 — SUPPORT FOR RADIATION-RELATED TISSUE INJURY

HBOT is used in certain medical settings to help manage delayed tissue injuries following radiation therapy.

04 — A SCIENCE-BASED APPROACH TO OXYGEN THERAPY

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has recognized medical applications, while research continues into other potential uses. Not all proposed wellness or recovery benefits have been established.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY FAQS

How does hyperbaric oxygen therapy work?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing supplemental oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. Increased atmospheric pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into blood plasma. At Cell Regen, our hard-shell chamber can reach 2.0 ATA, and oxygen is supplied through a mask connected to an external oxygen concentrator.

What's the science behind HBOT?

Under increased atmospheric pressure, breathing oxygen-enriched gas can increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the bloodstream. HBOT has established medical applications for certain conditions, including selected difficult-to-heal wounds. Research continues into other potential uses, and results depend on the condition and treatment protocol.

What does a hyperbaric session feel like?

As the chamber pressurizes, you may feel pressure in your ears, similar to flying in an airplane. Our team will explain techniques for equalizing ear pressure before your session. Once the chamber reaches its designated pressure, you can rest comfortably while breathing through your oxygen mask.

What are the potential benefits of HBOT?

Medical hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used for certain conditions, including selected nonhealing wounds and radiation-related tissue injuries. Other potential applications remain under investigation. HBOT is not appropriate for everyone, and benefits depend on the individual, equipment, and treatment protocol.

How long does a hyperbaric session last?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions commonly last approximately 60 to 90 minutes, although the duration varies by protocol. Contact Cell Regen to confirm the length of your appointment and what to expect.

Where can I find HBOT in the Columbia River Gorge?
